Unhinged – Action, Thriller
Category – Movie

Content – Reminiscent of an older movie called “Falling Down” with Michael Douglas, I thought this one was going to be along the same lines. But I was mistaken! Within the first five minutes, this film is much more violent than expected. Not a bad thing, just surprising. Your typical blue-collar worker goes “unhinged” and reeks havoc against his family. While at a stoplight that turns green (and he doesn’t move), Rachel is late taking Kyle to school, so she honks. While the man is already jacked up due to his family, this only enrages him more. He gets up beside her and asks her to apologize for not giving him a courtesy honk. Some exchange of words and Rachel says she has nothing to apologize for. This only angers the man even more and he decides to teach Rachel a lesson. He proceeds to torment and abuse Rachel, her family and her friends during this wild ride. This film is much more violent than I anticipated, but in many ways that is what makes it more unique. This scores a 7.5 out of 10.

Acting – I look at Russell Crowe as “The Gladiator”…not the unhinged man. While Russell’s acting is always on par, it’s hard for me to see him as this deranged killer. I’m not saying it was bad or anything, just very different. Caren Pistorius plays Rachel, and does an excellent job as the confused and tormented woman. Desperate to protect her son (played by Gabriel Bateman), she does what the unhinged man asks, while trying to figure out how to make this disastrous day come to an end. Other players in this movie are Jimmi Simpson, Austin McKenzie and Juliene Joyner. A good ensemble cast for such a violent thriller. Score is 8.5 out of 10.

Duration – 90 mins. A quick thriller that will keep you on the edge of your toes due to the fast pace and violent thrills. You cannot beat that from a movie!!! This gets a 8 out of 10.
