The Runners – Action
Category – Movie
Content – A tragedy leaves brother and sister Ryan and Zoe to grow up depending on each other. Teenager Zoe wants to be a bit rebellious at seventeen and skip school and go to parties. But one party proves to be a mistake, as she is taken captive by a group of sex traffickers. Ryan and his best friend Kooter get a lead on where the group is taking his sister, and they will stop at nothing to get her back. Unfortunately at one point, both are taken by these criminals and are forced to go to the headquarters, where drugs and girls are in high numbers. In the end, will Ryan be able to save Zoe? Or will the drug lord prevail? You have to watch this high impact action film, loaded with good choreographed stunts, to learn the answer. Sex trafficking is a heavy subject and movies that can tackle this in a decent way are to be commended. This scores a 7.5 out of 10.
Acting – Taking on many tasks in a film is not easy. Micah Lyons plays Ryan, but is also the writer and director (as well as other crew jobs). I’ve always found it to be difficult to direct oneself in a film, but this is one of those done well. Zoe is played by Netty Leach and does a very good job performing in this movie. Even though it is an action film, the subject matter is intense and has very in depth scenes. She really does a good job. And, although only in one scene, we get to see veteran Tom Sizemore playing a preacher! Score is 7.5 out of 10.
Duration – 1 hr 38 min. This film is pretty action packed and the time actually goes by very fast. I would say the length fits well with this one. This gets a 8 out of 10.
TOTAL INDEX for The Runners – 23 out of 30
Recommended Watch – Yes, this is a good action film, especially for an independent. I would say it is worthy of a watch!!!
