The Life Ahead – Drama
Category – Movie
Content – Set in Italy, Madame Rosa helps women take care of their children while they are at work (mostly prostitutes). But when her doctor, Dr Coen, asks if she can care for Momo, a boy that robbed her in the street, she is adamantly against it. Times are tough, and he promises 750 euros a month to her for caring for Momo, so she agrees. Momo is a tough kid, orphaned twice now in his life and hateful of everyone. Although they fight each other constantly and in almost every way, Madame Rosa and Momo end up with an unforgettable bond. A very touching story between two people. This scores a 7.5 out of 10.
Acting – Madame Rosa is played by the lovely and statuesque Sophia Loren. I’m not sure you can go wrong with Sophia speaking Italian in a movie. She is as beautiful now as she was so many years ago. And her acting is spectacular. Now, the real interesting bit about this movie is Momo, played by Ibrahima Gueye, who by the way, has NEVER acted a day in his life before this film. For never acting before, this kid blew this role out of the park. I would have thought he had been acting for years. So impressive for such a beginner. A truly amazing set of performances, from the legend and the beginner. Score is 9 out of 10.
Duration – 94 mins. A quick but thoughtful film. A lot seems to happen between the two individuals in such a short amount of time. This movie actually seems a lot longer because the relationship is so defined. This gets a 8.5 out of 10.

Recommended Watch – This is a definite watch for those Oscar contender lovers out there!!!
OSCAR BUZZ – I can see Sophia Loren getting an Oscar Nom for this film. And let’s not forget the director Edoardo Ponti, who just happens to be Sophia’s son. And let’s not forget another original song from Diane Warren. Will that land an Oscar Nom???
