The Irishman

The Irishman – Drama
Category – Movie

Content – The Irishman depicts a time in US history when the mob was at it’s peak. Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran learned to cheat the meat industry, kill for the mob and supposedly assist in the disappearance of his dear friend Jimmy Hoffa. I’m no history professor, so I must admit that I learned a lot about the 60’s and 70’s mob corruption and how the Teamsters grew to be as big as they are today. It’s an interesting watch; especially if you are unfamiliar with this time in US history; however don’t expect TOO much from the story, as that is lacking. It gets a 6 out of 10 for content.

Acting – Really? Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci. You really cannot go wrong in acting with these legends. Al Pacino as Jimmy Hoffa was mesmerizing! That’s a 9 out of 10 for acting.

Duration – 3 hours 29 minutes. WAY too long to watch history, no matter how legendary the actors are! This gets a 2 out of 10.

TOTAL INDEX for The Irishman – 17 out of 30

Recommended Watch – Sure if you have an extra 3 1/2 hours to kill.

  1. ouch! I liked this movie! Prob cuz I was around for the history, lol. I agree, a bit too long, but it was just such a different take on this story, than the usual versions that have circulated for decades.

  2. Too long. I found the CGI distracting. Certainly not Scorsese’s best film even in the genre. Could have been cut way down to create a tighter, well-paced film

  3. Great movie. I love Scorsese. Should probably be the last of these legends together but I loved it even with them being older. My 2nd favorite movie in the past couple years next to OUATIH.
