The Ice Road – Action, Adventure
Category – Movie
Content – When Mike and his brother Gurty run into a predicament and lose their trucking jobs, they are forced to accept a high risk run. Driving semi trucks over the ice road in Canada. I admit I didn’t realize there was such a thing, and this movie shows the immense danger of such a trip. And, the drivers are on a time crunch to deliver parts needed to save men in a collapsed mine. And of course, someone does not want them to succeed. Will they succed, or will all the men in the mine perish? While this movie is action, it also weaves in enough dramatic tone that blends well. So it is not over the edge action, which I liked for a Liam Neeson film. He tends to do action action action that are all the same concept; however, not this one. I have to say, I enjoyed this movie. Driving over the ice road was very suspenseful and made for a good watch. This scores a 8 out of 10.
Acting – Liam Neeson always shows a good performance, he has been doing these movies for so long that I can imagine it is just second nature to him. His brother is played by Marcus Thomas, who I haven’t heard of before but does a good job. And Tantoo, the female driver, is played by Amber Midthunder. She also does a good job, showing her range of emotions within the film. A great cameo performance by Laurence Fishburne never disappoints. All in all, the acting ensemble is good and enjoyable to watch. Score is 8 out of 10.
Duration – 1 hour 49 mins. It is pretty surprising that this movie is almost 2 hours long. It sure doesn’t seem that long while you are watching it. So I have to give this time a Thumb’s Up. This gets a 8 out of 10.
