Radioactive – Drama
Category – Movie
Content – The remarkable true story of Madame Curie. I’ve heard the name in history, but had never known the extent of Madame Curie’s brilliance until watching this movie. Together with her husband Pierre, they had a romantic passion through their shared interest – Science. They discovered Radium, won the Nobel Peace Prize twice, and she created an x-ray machine that would later save thousands of soldier’s lives in World War 1. She was a “take no prisoners” kind of woman with a genius mind, and that scared people in the 1800’s. But Madame Curie didn’t care, she pushed on until her last breath. A truly fascinating journey through one woman’s life, one I obviously had no clue about. I was amazed by this story and will forever have the utmost respect for a woman that defied all beliefs and made her own. This scores an 9 out of 10
Acting – Not an easy task to cast Madame Curie, but the filmmakers nailed it with Rosamund Pike. She was as brilliant an actress as Madame Curie as Madame Curie was with her genius mind. Her acting was compelling and believable. And Sam Riley as Pierre was just as good. He was bold and the passion shined through his character. Score is 9 out of 10.
Duration – 1 hr 49 mins. I was truly a bit scared about this drama, thinking it would be slow and lose my attention. I was wrong! The length is long, but this film really grabs you and holds your attention the whole way though, including all the good and bad. This gets a 9 out of 10.

OSCAR BUZZ – Rosamund Pike deserves an Oscar Nom for Best Actress. She was as good as they come in this movie! I could also see Sam Riley getting a Best Supporting, and possibly Best Directing for Marjane Satrapi!!!
