Invasion Earth – Drama, Sci-Fi
Category – Movie
Content – The earth is going to be invaded, but before that we follow a group of addicts that are sent to a camp type setting with a therapist. For much of the beginning of this film we learn about the addictions – drugs, sex, gender, etc. All kids with their own unique issues, coming together in therapy. I have to admit, it takes quite a while for the science fiction to really come into play with this film. Eventually, one the patients comes under the alien control and starts terrorizing the other kids. Everyone is rattled when the actual aliens do arrive, and the real chaos begins. While I will always give props to independent filmmakers, this movie might have been better if they had stuck with the dramatics of the therapy group. Adding the aliens in at a much later time in the film seemed almost out of character for the film? The real intrigue is the issues with the kids and the way they get through their addictions together. However, this film is slated as a sci-fi and there may not be any survivors after the aliens invade! This scores a 6 out of 10.
Acting – The acting of the therapy group is surprising good. They are all dramatic in their own ways and display their emotions well. While they are all dealing with their own personal addictions, the aliens almost intrude on what they are actually trying to accomplish. The cast includes Tony Fadil, Darren James King, Cameron Bell, Sammy Johnston, Jonathan Jules, Charlotte Gould, Colette Hughes and Phoebe Delikoura. Again, all do a good job. And the therapist is played by David Shaw. Score is 8 out of 10.
Duration – 1 hr 51 min. Seems long since the sci-fi aspect takes so long to come into play. This gets a 6 out of 10.
TOTAL INDEX for Invasion Earth – 20 out of 30
Recommended Watch – Perhaps, but don’t watch this one for the sci-fi aspect, watch it for the good dramatic acting of the cast!
