Girl – Thriller
Category – Movie
Content – Bella Thorne’s character hops on a bus to come to a small town where her daddy lives. After receiving news that he intends to come kill her momma, she sets herself in motion to kill him first. But when she arrives at this small town and actually finds his house, she realizes that someone has beat her to it. Now, angry at this situation, she begins her own little investigation to figure out who has done the deed she wanted to carry out. What she finds is a web of lies and deceit, and her uncles! But why would her uncles be so angry at her father? Until she understands that these are her momma’s brothers and a rumor of money has everyone set to find it. This movie is definitely a low budget thriller that could have used a little finesse in the writing, but all in all a decent film. Stemming on revenge and betrayal, this is not a new concept to the movie world, but I have seen worse! This scores an 6 out of 10.
Acting – Known for “Step it Up”, Bella Thorne has come a long way since her Lifetime days. Playing a revengeful, angry girl is not something we are used to, but she is growing into a well rounded actress. She did a great job with what she had to work with. And having Mickey Rourke playing a bad guy is no surprise, he does those roles well. Almost too well, if you know what I mean. Another mention would be Chad Faust, who’s mentally odd character fits in well with the dynamic of the film. Oh yeah – did I mention Chad also wrote AND directed the film? Score is 7 out of 10.
Duration – 1 hr 32 mins. Short and sweet to get through the drama of this family. And with plenty of action, the movie flows fairly well. Maybe a tad slow in a couple spots, but that really doesn’t take away too much from the film. This gets a 7 out of 10.
