Cherry – Drama
Category – Movie
Content – This is a love story that spirals out of control like a twister. When Cherry is in college, he meets and falls in love with Emily. His first true love. But when Emily tells Cherry she is leaving the school to go to another school out of the state and breaks up with him, he is beyond devastated. What is he to do? Well, he goes and joins the Army. Alas, Emily has second thoughts and comes back to Chery to tell him she loves him and wants to be with him, but it’s too late. They get married and he leaves for basic training and the war. Being in a war overseas as a medic does little for Cherry’s state of mind, he comes home with PTSD. To cope with is PTSD, he turns to heroine. Frustrated, Emily does not know how to deal with this except for joining him. Now heroine addicts, they must find more money to feed their habit. So Cherry turns to robbing banks. Yes, robbing banks. This movie continues to spiral downward until both Cherry and Emily reach rock bottom. A serious drama with all the consequences. This scores an 8 out of 10.
Acting – Tom Holland has had two dramas recently that proves he is much more than Spiderman. Given the right tools and this young actor shines. He is definitely one to keep watching, as his career will continue to sky rocket up. And Ciara Bravo, who plays Emily, does a tremendous job. Her acting is on point and believable. Both actors deserve their praise for their performances in this film. Score is 8.5 out of 10.
Duration – 2 hr 20 mins. There are scenes that I believe could have been cut back to give this movie a better length. It is pretty long to get through. This gets a 7.5 out of 10.
TOTAL INDEX for Cherry – 24 out of 30
Recommended Watch – Another Oscar contender…I would definitely suggest giving this one a watch. While it is long, the acting is great and it truly shows one man’s struggles with life.
OSCAR BUZZ – I could definitely see Tom Holland getting recognized for his performance as Cherry!
