Birds of Prey

Birds of Prey – Action
Category – Movie

Content – This movie is pretty simple – It is a deliciously violent, wildly amusing and women kicking ass adaption of a comic book. That’s all the review needs. LOL But, let’s go into it a little. Harley Quinn and Joker break up, and Harley struggles to believe that she can lead a life of crime in Gotham without him. While Harley is trying to identify with herself, there is a young girl named Cassandra who becomes a target of the evil Roman Sionis, also known as Black Mask. She forms an unlikely band of female mercenaries with Black Canary, The Huntress and a cop named Renee Montoya, to attempt to help the girl against the Black Mask before it is too late. We have a massive blow up of a chemical plant, intensely choreographed fight scenes, and even glitter bombs! There are bits of humor thrown in, which makes the movie incredibly fun to watch. There is even a Hyena named Bruce! This movie is violent in the classic comic book style of a film, and I thoroughly enjoyed it!!! This scores a 9 out of 10.

Acting – It seems that Margot Robbie was made to play Harley Quinn! Her intense fighting, bits of humor and quirky facial expressions are so wildly fun to watch. I’m not sure if she was even acting, or simply having so much fun on set it translates to genius on film. There could never be another actress as Harley Quinn! The surprise for me was Jurnee Smollett-Bell, who rocked Black Canary out of the park. And Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who wields a crossbow like no other as The Huntress (dubbed the Crossbow Killer for a long time in the film, its very funny). Black Mask is played by Ewan Mcgregor, who is brings sexy and funny to this diabolical character, he is fantastic. The entire cast is wildly entertaining. Score is 9 out of 10.

Duration – An hour and 49 minutes goes by way too fast for this film. The non stop action and humor are just too fun, I wish we could have had more! Here’s to hoping a sequel will be in the mix soon!!! This gets a 9 out of 10.

TOTAL INDEX for Birds of Prey – 27 out of 30.

Recommended Watch – Look, this is a Girl Kicking Ass comic book style film, it is violent and fun. It empowers women, but I think there is enough action that men will like it too! So, I think everyone should give this a go, its just pure entertainment!

  1. I thought it was entertaining and would most likely enjoy a sequel. The acting was great and it was cool to see Rosie Perez again.

  2. Hum! Probably why I have never read comic books. This one just does not appeal to me. Thank you for the review!
