Content – This film is based on the true story of the third battle of Ypres in World War 1. On April 6, 1917 Lance Corporal Blake and Lance Corporal Schofield are tasked to deliver a message to Colonel MacKenzie. His entire brigade of 1600 men are walking into a trap, set to attack the Germans the next morning, and among those in this brigade is Blake’s brother. If Blake and Schofield do not deliver this message, all 1600 men will eminently parish. They set out across enemy lines to complete their mission. This movie is a true story of war, friendship and the will to move on. They share fear of the unknown, laughs in conversations, and unfortunately tragedy. Will they make it in time to warn MacKenzie and his men? You will have to watch to find out! I can say, the cinematography from Roger Deakins is mind blowing, it is so intelligent and beautiful. And Sam Mendes proves that his directing is among the best! This scores a 9 out of 10.
