1 BR – Thriller
Category – Movie
Content – This is your typical “move to Los Angeles” film (or is it?). A young, naive girl named Sarah, who is running away from her father and desperately wants her independence. She goes to see a 1 Bedroom apartment for rent; however there are many people seeing the apartment and filling out applications. While at her temp job, to her surprise she gets the call that she has been selected to move in. Sarah is happy, the people in the building seem to be so nice and this is the new start she has needed. Alas, the happiness is quickly shattered when the residents of this charming building take her hostage and begin to brainwash her. And let’s not even discuss what happens to the cat she snuck in. As they torture and torment her about “the power of community”, she finally gives in. She will be a member and do her part. But when her only friend in Los Angeles is the next to become a new “tenant”, the situation changes very quickly. Does Sarah help her friend before the abuse starts? Does she stay, or get away from the “community?” You’ll have to watch this surprising great little film to find out! Needless to say, it is FAR from your typical move to LA film! This scores an 8.5 out of 10.
Acting – Sarah is played by Nicole Brydon Bloom, who I have never seen before, but does a tremendously great job. She is on key with her emotions and fears, and is very believable. The members of the community are played by Giles Matthey, Taylor Nichols, Susan Davis, Clayton Hoff and Naomi Grossman (of American Horror Story fame). These actors all do a great job playing the seemingly nice, then creepy and demented tenants. Score is 8.5 out of 10.
Duration – 90 min. Always a great length for your cute, then demented thriller. This movie flows well and keeps your attention the whole way through! This gets a 9 out of 10.
TOTAL INDEX for 1 BR – 26 out of 30
